GTWC – All eyes on qualifying after an eventful day of Free Practice at Magny-Cours

Our Free Practice day is now behind us at Magny-Cours, where we kicked off our GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup weekend with two action-packed sessions.

Free Practice 1 brought its fair share of challenges, requiring us to adapt our programme while continuing to prepare our two Porsche 911 GT3 R cars for this weekend’s two races.

Free Practice 2 then saw a dramatic change in the weather, as a heavy thunderstorm swept across the circuit. The intense rainfall forced Race Control to end the session before the chequered flag. Despite the limited track time, we came away with a very encouraging result, as Robin Knutsson and Gilles Magnus set the fastest Gold Cup lap aboard the #10 Porsche 911 GT3 R, finishing the session fourth overall.

On the other side of the garage, Dorian Boccolacci and Alessio Picariello continued working through their programme with the #2 Porsche 911 GT3 R, gathering valuable data ahead of the remainder of the weekend. Despite the challenging wet conditions, they secured 11th place overall.

It’s now time to get down to business. Qualifying gets underway this afternoon at 14:55, before the highlight of the day: Saturday’s night race, which starts at 21:05.

Before that, don’t miss the Autograph Session at 13:00, where you’ll have the opportunity to get up close to our Porsche 911 GT3 R cars and meet our drivers.

After an intense opening day, the entire team is fully focused on these two key moments of the weekend. See you at the track!
