Monza – A Challenging Race but P4 for Our Pro Entry
The weekend’s race at Monza delivered mixed emotions for our team.
For our #10 Porsche, the race unfortunately came to an end almost as soon as it began. Once again caught up in an incident in the opening stages, the car was involved in the major first-lap pile-up triggered by a Mercedes and became one of its innocent victims. The damage sustained forced an early retirement, a particularly frustrating outcome given the run of bad luck that has affected our Gold entry in recent weeks, driven by Gilles Magnus, Robin Knutsson, and Alessandro Ghiretti.
The #2 car experienced a very different race. Thanks to strong pace and flawless execution, it quickly established itself in the fight for a podium position and remained in contention until the closing stages of the event.
However, several Full Course Yellow periods disrupted the race, particularly during the final hour. These neutralisations reshuffled the strategic picture and created opportunities for a number of competitors. While the #2 was still firmly in the battle for a top-three finish, other teams were able to take advantage of the timing of these caution periods to complete pit stops under more favourable conditions and gain valuable track position.
Despite a determined effort, the #2 eventually crossed the finish line in fourth place, narrowly missing out on the podium after an otherwise outstanding performance. It was nevertheless a remarkable drive from Alessio Picariello, Dorian Boccolacci, and Morris Schuring, especially considering the challenging conditions and the numerous incidents that marked the race.
Next up are the 24 Hours of Spa. Racing on home soil, we are more motivated than ever to shine with both of our cars.
