PAUL RICARD – results
End of an intense week at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet for our team; the starting point of what promises to be an exciting season!
Our car #10, driven by Gilles Magnus, Robin Knutsson and Alessandro Ghiretti, got off to a strong start with a solid P6 in the Gold category and 19th overall in qualifying.
Unfortunately, the race was cut short almost immediately. Shortly after the start, an incident ahead of our Porsche 911 GT3 R saw another car spin across the track. With no room to avoid it, Knutsson, at the wheel at the time, was caught up in a heavy collision. The impact with the wall was unavoidable, forcing an early retirement for our Porsche in the opening moments of the race.
On the #2 side, a technical issue in Qualifying 1 heavily compromised its chances, forcing the car to start from 53rd on the grid after the combined results of the three qualifying sessions. At the start, Boccolacci was involved in an incident and had to pit early, which allowed the team to switch to an alternative strategy.
Once back on track, the team didn’t give up. Boccolacci, Picariello and Schuring delivered a strong comeback drive, overtaking car after car to climb up to P11, despite a late-race penalty. A result that seemed almost out of reach after qualifying, but one that confirms the crew’s potential. With a clean qualifying session, car #2 clearly has what it takes to fight at the front against the top teams on the grid.
A mixed weekend overall, marked by an early retirement for car #10 and a challenging qualifying for our Pro entry. However, #2 showed great race pace and fighting spirit, gaining many positions on track.
We now look ahead to Brands Hatch for the first Sprint race weekend of the season; a different format from endurance racing, but one that promises just as much action and intensity. And hopefully, podium finishes to match!
